On the now closed and lifted railway from Narrogin to Collie, English Electric G51 hauls Metrovick X1028"Meeraman" and train through Dumberning towards Collie, twenty years ago on 29 April 1983.

The Metrovick X class diesels were still an important part of the railscene in Western Australia in 1982, XA1407 Wirngir + XB1018 Inpirra are seen arriving at Bruce Rock with a train from Merredin on 4 January 1982.

Even on the Great Southern Railway it was still possible to photograph Metrovicks on the mainline, here XA1401 Pedong+ XA1413 Yabaroo are seen passing Broomehill on 8 January 1982. 1401 has been preserved on the Hotham Valley Railway.

In 1982 the Pemberton to Northcliffe Railway was still operated by Westrail (now part of the Pemberton tramway). X1007 Natingaro powers a loaded timber/ mixed goods train over the Pemberton - Northcliffe Road on 11 January 1982.

There were still several steam locomotives at Midland in 1982, here we see V1206, later cut up onsite.

From the left we see withdrawn XB1027, Z1151, X1031 (in for repairs) and accident damaged XB1022. Only Z1151 survives, preserved at Steamtown in Peterborough South Australia.

XA1412+XA1403 haul their train away from Kojunup on the now closed and lifted Kojunup to Katanning Railway (which also went through to Boyup Brook and Bunbury) on 2 April 1982. The cab of XA1403 is "preserved" at Gosnells Railway Markets.

The ARHS ran a railtour to Bolgart on 25 April 1982. X1030 hauled the train and is seen shunting a four wheeled van prior to running around the train at Bolgart.
