The Forrestfield/ Kewdale area is still a focus for rail activity in Perth with Australia Western Railroad Loco Stabling facilities/ standard gauge yard, SCT, South Spur Rail Services, Pacific National, EDI Rail, CBH, GEMCO Rail all having rail connections, yard facilities or stabling points.

GM38 moves down from EDI's maintenance centre on 1 June 2002, the GM along with a number of South Australian units were bought across to Western Australia by the parent company Perth based Australian Railroad Group to assist in alleviating Australia Western's motive power shortage.

South Spur Rail Services K206 shunts AWR's Forrestfield complex on 17 February 2002. K206 was also assisting AWR during the motive power shortage.

AWR L256 returns to the stabling point after shunting, the L class can still be seen on mainline duties to Kalgoorlie etc. L256 is seen on 1 June 2002.
